Sunday's Chesapeake Beach Ramble

Sunday's Chesapeake Beach Ramble

Now that it's summertime, I expect all of you are in healthy enough shape to handle this Sunday's ride to Chesapeake Beach.

Remember there will be two starts- the first leaves Carroll Park at 7AM and heads to the second start at BWI Dixon Observatory. All the details are in the previous post HERE

I did not re-ride this route, but I am feeling confident (reckless?) that it is still intact from last year's ride. The cue sheet is here: CHESAPEAKE BEACH RIDE

For those who use Garmins, etc. you can download the gpx file here: http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/376735    (click "share" to download file)

The only minor change is that the 1st lunch option is not an option any longer.
PLEASE REMEMBER: hydrate well, wear sunglasses and ample sunscreen.

Re: Sunday's Chesapeake Beach Ramble

Sunday's weather is looking great!! I'm in for this ride! Last year we had a fantastic group of riders!  I believe it was the most riders Bob ever had for one of his century rides!!  Ride leader sign in sheet was full!!  Don't miss out!!  I still have the cue sheet from LAST YEAR!! Fantastic ride! This will be my FIRST century ride of the year!

Re: Sunday's Chesapeake Beach Ramble

I'm hoping to intercept you guys along the way -- I've planned a 65-mile ride, starting from the Davidsonville P&R, picking up Bob's route at Muddy Creek Road.  If I figured everything right, I should be moseying into the Subway just ahead of you all.

I'll follow the route most of the way back, until my bailout arrives at Patuxent River Road and Central Avenue.  (Sooner if I have to, but I hope not!)

Re: Sunday's Chesapeake Beach Ramble

Thanks to Rando Bob for yet another fabulous Ramble. There were some headwinds on the way out and an unfortunate encounter with a rude van driver (Tiffany, what was the name of the business advertised on the van? I'd like to give them a piece of my mind), but the weather was lovely and we finished with tailwinds.

Nice day.  Pleasant group.  First few miles started out great.  Sure wish someone didn't shout out to TURN LEFT at the next intersection (Dicus Hill Rd).....

Yes, Rando Bob!!! Fabulous ride!  What was the total number of riders Bob?  Janet G, Tiffany and I stayed together until the Subway lunch stop.  Tiffany continued!!  Thanks for leading me around today Janet!!  Oh, and thanks for waiting for me when I had to stop and cool off my HOT feet, with only 1.4 miles to go!! :-)

Re: Sunday's Chesapeake Beach Ramble

Always good to see the Ramble 'regulars' and some new folks discovering the Ramble rides as well.It was really great to see some folks that I haven't seen or ridden with for awhile ie. Jeff W,Sam W, Dave H etc.! Really great weather today  too :-)
Thanks , Rando Bob & all the other Ramble riders too.
ps, a few random comments heard during the ride."I thought the Ramble rides were about enjoying the scen-er-rrrrrrrrrrry ? "
"Look ,there's the waaaaaaaa-teeeeeeeeeeeeeer ! "
pps, mi. 78 - 102 was a bit of a struggle but a snowball and short break had me feeling well enough to risk 'the walk of shame' & enduring the wall of pain (the backside of College ave.) @ mile 129 - ugh!  I MADE IT ! ( all pain , no shame :-)
==================================================================
STOP , HAMMER TIME !
My, my, my ,
the  pace was so hard
Made me say ,
"Oh my Lord"
Thank you for blessing me
With a superfly ride
and two big thighs

Glad you made it, especially since you were fighting a summertime cold, too!  Good training, soldier!
