BBC should stop requiring helmets on its rides

The BBC should become the first club in the nation to allow helmets OR Hövdings on club rides.  Let's be cutting edge here.

Studies have shown, according to the promoters of the Hövding, that

"helmets are an impediment to cycling for some, particularly women, who don't like what it does to their hair. "

By allowing the Hövding on club rides, we could, perhaps, vastly increase the number of women on club rides.  I have noticed that many women arrive at club rides with their helmet already on and leave the same way.  I have never understood why a helmet is needed when driving a car, but I suspect now that this is related to the hair problem that the Hövding addresses.

Study the following, look at the videos:

Let's get a jump on the rest of the area cycling clubs here.

Re: BBC should stop requiring helmets on its rides

Oh yeah, I know for sure that when my wife doesn't go on a lot of club rides it's because of her hair.  Nothing to do with our 4 kids or working . . .

Did you see how it can be a flotation device so that if you fall into a body of water you can't drown - no matter how drunk you are?
