How to edit ride "Starting point" link location.

How to edit ride "Starting point" link location.

Someone pointed out that the start of the Foxey Coxey ride I just added to the June schedule as defined by the "Starting point" link drops the user into the middle of the Chesapeake bay.  Don't see any obvious way to change that myself.  If someone could enlighten me that would be great.  Otherwise it might be wise to remove it.

If it's a matter of needing someone to review all of them and something I can do, let me know.

Re: How to edit ride "Starting point" link location.

I figured it out.  Note:  You CANNOT copy and paste the Google link after getting the GPS coordinates.  While they show up in the search box, the link is incorrect.  You have to cut and paste the GPS coordinates INTO the displayed link, removing the existing coordinates prior.  I first tried updating what was being displayed when clicking on the link to the ride start and ended up getting EXACTLY what was already there (middle of the bay).  After taking the steps above the proper link was placed.

Re: How to edit ride "Starting point" link location.

I do this a different way. I go to google maps, the go into "My Maps" and then "create new map."  Then I select the Place Marker tool and put a marker exactly where I want to get the coordinates. Name it with the name you want to use for it: "Shopping Center Parking lot" or whatever.

Then, and this is the key step, select this point, right click and "Center your map here".  At this point you can go "Link" button--at the upper right of the map and capture the "email" or "IM" link. This is the exact string you want to paste into your ride start location when filling in your description of the cue sheet in the cue sheet library.

note: I use some of the available HTML tools to keep this message from collapsing into one long, indigestible text message.  (Do you remember how my messages for today/tomorrow rides looked? that is how yours look--but you never get to see them because the software does not send you your own posts.
