Re: Ride to Annapolis on Monday?

Terry,
Can you shoot me your e-mail so I have you on my list. I have a flyer that I want to run by everybody.
The way I see this thing is like this. It's very last minute so a mass start and scheduled meet up points are impossible. I plan on leaving Bmore at 7am from intersection of Roland Ave and N Parkway. I would like to tell everybody to just be at the State House by noon. They don't have to ride the entire distance, they can park off the b&a and ride in, as long as they ride in. We don't have a scheduled time to meet our reps or know when they're voting. What's important is that we get as any cyclists to Annapolis by noon. And it needs to be stressed that this is a memorial ride so no BS, no running lights, not a Critical Mass knd of thing. we need people to see our best side.

I also want to make it very clear that this is an unsanctioned ride, not affiliated with the BBC or any other club. Everybody is responsible for their own safety and behavior.

Re: Ride to Annapolis on Monday?

For those of you who want to drive most of the way and ride the rest here is parking lot near Annapolis http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8& … =39.010581,-76.489305&spn=0.05142,0.077162&z=14&msid=116280672157870197546.000483e4053f7ac2231f1

I will also note there is a couple of staple bike racks on the side of the building on the southeast corner of the mall (just north of the State House.)

Count me in Harry. Let me know what direction you'll be heading down through/around Bmore; I'm in Riverside/Fed Hill and can join up with you if you're taking the Gywnn's Falls route or will catch the Light Rail and meet up at the B&A by Cromwell.

Re: Ride to Annapolis on Monday?

Okay, the way this is shaping up we have three points of departure so far.

Starbucks and Roland Ave-For people riding the whole way from Baltimore  8:00

RacePace in Owings Mills-Talk to Marc at Racepace about when their group leaves

Cromwell Lightrail station at the head of the B& A trail 9:30

Barry, Is there adequate parking at Cromwell? Do you know? Are you joining us? It would be great to have somebody who knows that little section of the Gwynns Falls connecting over to Hollins Ferry etc.

Joe,
That's great. You will be meeting up with the Baltimore group, probably down to you by 8:30.

Keep checking back as times and places may change but everything will be solid by Sunday.

Re: Ride to Annapolis on Monday?

I just posted the BBC comment on it.  And I need to get off my duff and put together a cue.  I know MapMyRide will let you print one, but only if you pay.  That and their cues often have errors.  Just got back from Phil's ride and now "chatting" with daughter at college.  Will get it out today (this evening).  Will be based on what is on MapMyRide so it's that changes, please let me know.

Re: Ride to Annapolis on Monday?

I plan on riding down but at a bit slower pace. I'm leaving my house @ 7 will be by Starbucks on Roland ~7:20 and I am meeting Rod at the BWI Trail and Hamonds Ferry @ 8:45. That's my best guess at my speed and allowing time for a break before getting into Annapolis.

I'm not sure about parking at Cromwell as I have only been there on weekends. I would guess there would be few spots open, if not parking in the neighborhood should be doable.

I've been taken Warner St to Haines St (@ T) then cut thru the gas station on Russel St to sidewalk/JFT to get on Annapolis Rd. It's a little more straight forward but watch those RR tracks!

Joe, Do you know Rod B? He lives near Federal Hill and is taking the light rail down.

Re: Ride to Annapolis on Monday?

Harry

So far there are 10 confirmed/11 maybe

Will keep you updated.

I dont know if you are on FB or not Harry...but Maxine posted this on the comments:

Harry -- people are going to be joining in from different places and riding at different speeds, so I'd suggest that you pick a "gathering point" very near the end, at which everyone will pull up and wait until a certain designated time, when everyone will move out together and stay together, at the speed of the slowes...t, until you get to the State House. Maybe Jonas Green State Park, right before you cross the Severn River, or the parking lot at Boulters Way near near the southern end of the B&A Trail?
