Ride to Annapolis on Monday?

Re: Ride to Annapolis on Monday?

I considered trailing a black flag behind me with a big 3 on it. Signs are a good idea, whatever you want to do.

Re: Ride to Annapolis on Monday?

I plan to join Monday's Ride to Annapolis, starting at the Cromwell Lightrail Station at 9:30am.  From previous experience, I've always found plenty of parking there.

Nigel and I plan to meet up with the ride from Marley Station.  Based on Jeff's comments, I plan to be ready to join up with the ride at 9:30 am.  If you think I should be ready earlier, let me know.  Unless I hear differently, I'll post something similar on the FB site in a few hours.

Re: Ride to Annapolis on Monday?

Terry, Jeff etc. That all sounds right as far as meet up times. I'm sure there will be some people ahead of schedule and some behind. Stay tuned for a meet up point at the bottom of the b&a where we can all meet up and ride into Annapolis together.

I am going to recon part of the Baltimore route this morning to make sure there aren't any surprises. I'll report back later and then send you my route so we can wrap this thing up tight.

I sent out announcements to Joe's Bike Shop, Light St. Cycles, Balt Sun, TV Stations etc. Anything anybody can do to get this thing to grow-DO IT.

I got an e-mail last night  from Tami, Larry's widow. She is very eager to join us in Annapolis and to speak of her husband and how this law could possibly have saved his life. Remeber this ride has to be very cool, a lot of singling up, no running lights, anything like that. With such a big group we are bound to have some small infractions but let's do our best. Psyched!!

Re: Ride to Annapolis on Monday?

What I just posted on the Facebook event page.

Start points are varied. If you start at the beginning, plan on riding out from W Lake and Roland Ave at 8 AM. Next pick-up point is Hammonds Ferry and the BWI trail at 8:45 AM. Prefer to meet at Cromwell Lightrail Station? Then plan on riding out at 9:30 AM from there. Nigel and I will be ready to meet up on the Baltimore & Annapolis trail from Marley Station Mall (north end) also at 9:30 am.

Race Pace (Owings Mills store) is getting involved and leading a group out from their store. Talk to Marc at Race Pace to find out when they are leaving.

Updates as they become available.

Re: Ride to Annapolis on Monday?

Publicity is getting out there - I got a forwarded email form Race Pace re: this ride form a group of mountain bikers who I did trail maintenance with at Loch Raven yesterday. So I think the word is growing.

Harry - do you think TV/reporters will show up if you make a brief stop/appearance down by the harbor, say the Visitor's Center? It might be a good news report and also advise/warn drivers that we'll be out there so PAY ATTENTION FOR ONCE.
Just a thought.
I also like the black flag. My mind is thinking.....

Most of all THANK YOU Harry for organizing this. THIS is what clubs are for.

Harry - let me know when you'll be coming through the south side of the city, approximately and I'll join you then.

Start thinking about some sound bites for the news media.

I am relatively new to BBC but have followed and fully support the club advocacy activities.  I plan on taking the Light Rail to Cromwell and will be ready to ride to Annapolis at 9:30 tomorrow.  David Blois
