Sweltering Week Weather Forecast, Big Week for Riding & CWC

Sweltering Week Weather Forecast, Big Week for Riding & CWC

It is Tuesday and the sun is already really hot and it's 80 with 88% RH at 11:00 am.  Riding yesterday (same weather) was like waves of an oven!  **Disclaimer** I am not a meteorologist, I just play one on the list-serv's and forum!

UV index will be very high today, humidity will stay over 50% all day rising again overnight.  It will be 90+ for a high and with that humidity will feel like 100 degrees and little evaporation to cool your skin so bring lots of fluids all week.

We could get pop-up storms tonight and it will likely storm after the Glenelg Gang ride tonight so we'll just have to keep a look out to see when the cells start developing this afternoon.  Remember ***Roll out at 5:45pm**** for all of September starting TODAY.

Wednesday (HoCo) and Thursday (GG) evenings look pretty good at this point, still hot and humid but hopefully no rain.

Saturday is the Civil War Century.  50/50 rain/showers/storms all weekend.  It will be brutally hot for the death march across the cornfields the last 30 miles and there will be isolated storms on Friday and there is a 60% chance of rain/storms in the afternoon on Saturday so we will hope the ride goes dry and only the after-party is affected if at all.

Several of us pre-rode the initial proposed new CWC route a week ago and it looked like 101 miles and about 8,200 feet of total climbing (750 more than the old route).  Some of the roads were getting tar/chip last week so the route has likely been changed again so it will be an interesting new route with a lot of familiar roads since most of the route is the same.

There is a local (HoCo/Mont Co) BBC recovery ride on Sunday at 9am at the Glenwood Library/Community Center on RT-97 N near McKendree and still 50/50 on showers/rain.

Ciao,
Stuart

You could have rolled out with us this morning at 9:00 from Meadowood for the 46 mile Lees Mill Loop.  Not yet very hot, nice shade, low traffic mid-morning ride.
Quit the day job and ride with us Stuart!
