Broken Shimano 105 rear derailleur

Broken Shimano 105 rear derailleur

For the 2nd time in 4 yrs., I had a rear derailleur snap off, fortunately not going into the spokes either time. It was a Shimano 105 5700-RD which was standard on my 2010 Trek 2.3 with triple crank. Has anyone had a similar experience with this one? Can someone make a suggestion for replacement?  My crank is 50/39/30 and the cassette is 12-27. Please mail me at djm166@case.edu.  Thanks  .

Apparently, Ribble Cycles in the UK is having an exceptionally big blowout on groupsets and components.  You might check them out: http://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/

Better yet, ask for help from your local bike shop. Our LBSs are the ones who really take care of us.

Are you transporting the bike on a rear car rack. Maybe you're putting it on in a way that you are bending the derailleur in a way that is causing the problem.

I've used a Shimano Ultegra triple for years, and never had a problem.
And it shifts way better than the 105, in my opinion.
