Coal Rolling

Coal Rolling

I haven't heard any BBC members talking about Coal Rolling but the HoCo group and individual riders in Howard County have experienced the problem.

Here's a story that aired on NPR Monday night.

Re: Coal Rolling

Delegate Clarence Lam (HoCo + Balt Co) will introduce legislation to forbid the practice. Bicycling Advocates of Howard County (and Bike Maryland?) gave Delegate Lam comments on his draft legislation.

The Lesson: Make Friends With Your Local Politicians!
- Contribute to your Friend's campaign (i.e., attend your Friend's fundraisers)
- Go to your Friend's town meetings.
- Go to other events where your Friend might be; become a presence.
- Be Nice, NOT strident.

Re: Coal Rolling

I'm wondering what kind of enforcement measures are planned.   Forgive me if you read some cynicism in here, but we have several (e.g., 3 ft.) laws on the books.  How do you anticipate that this will have any teeth?

Thanks.

Re: Coal Rolling

What a sad statement about our culture that sensed legislation to motivate people to treat others with courtesy and respect for their safety.

The way I picture enforcement will work, is have a video camera running. And then turn in the video into the local police.

Not amazing but something.
