Road construction - 2017

I will update this list as I find roads being worked on.
Add a road to the list by reply or by forum message to me.

As of 26 June 2017:

  • Ivy Hill Road repaved from Beaverdam Rd west;

  • Jerome Jay northern-most bridge approaches repaved very smooth

Re: Road construction - 2017

It isn't a road per se, but the paved path around the reservoir in Druid Hill Park is closed for construction that could take 3-4 years. This having been my place to do laps for several years and a well-used recreation area for locals, I am not amused. Who knows whether the result will be worth it. Considering Baltimore's penchant for taking something perfectly good and messing it up (viz. the preposterous and universally unloved Roland Avenue "cycle track"), my hopes are not high.

Re: Road construction - 2017

My commute route on Pulaski Hwy has been obliterated with construction. It's no longer a viable commute route, for me, as the construction sites extend from White Marsh to my work site at Aberdeen Proving Ground.

This is the second year I have not been able to commute to work on my bike.

Re: Road construction - 2017

Old Forge Road, between South Mountain Road and Mentzer Gap Road, will be closed to through traffic beginning June 5 for bridge replacement.  Unfortunately, there are no good detours around the construction.  Rides affected by the closure include the South Mountain ride on the Greencastle Great Escape, the latest version of the Red Rum ride, and, depending on how long the project takes, the Caledonia ride on the Washington County Getaway.

The Jerome Jay northern most bridge approaches are rough milled and dangerous.

Re: Road construction - 2017

There is extra traffic on Hillside Rd due to the detour caused by Greenspring Ave closed south of Hillside.
"Baltimore County closed Greenspring Avenue between Woodvalley Drive and Hillside Road in mid-June in order to repair two storm drains: the first one is just south of Hillside Road and the second is near Woodvalley Drive. During construction of the first storm drain, traffic will be detoured from Hillside Road to Falls Road and to Old Court Road. Work is expected to take four to five weeks. Upon completion, repairs on the second culvert will begin. A detour plan will be announced before the start of the second project and access for local traffic will be maintained. The project is expected to be completed before the end of summer."
