Take your spokes with you

Take your spokes with you

Broke a spoke on Friday at KCSF, no bike shop in town, but Larry Black just arrived to support the ride. Showed him the wheel. He said he DOES NOT BRING SPOKES (too many sizes and types).  No problem for me, I said, because I have spokes for my bike! Quick fix and back on the road for Saturday.
At dinner that night, found that hardly anyone brought spokes. No spokes, no wheel, no ride.
Do this now: Order spokes for each bike you take on trips. Note that the front and rear wheels may have different length spokes (the rear spokes on my Easton wheels are ΒΌ in shorter than front.)  Put them in a paper tube that comes on some wire hangers from the cleaners. Tape the top and bottom of the tube. Remove your seat and drop the tube down into the seat post. There is plenty of room for the tube and you will have the spokes with you, not in the car.
