Cue library accepts multiple files compressed as .zip file

Cue library accepts multiple files compressed as .zip file

The cue library accepts compressed file sets. We all have compression software on our computers. Select a bunch of files, do a right click or whatever, and you are presented with an option to compress them. Chose it. You end up with a .zip file.

(On a MacIntosh. select the set of files that are in the same folder that your want compressed together, chose "Compress" from the file menu and you will find an additional file in the same directory with the same root name and the extension .zip. Someone want to give the PC equivalent?)

You can bundle a .gpx file and a .pdf file into a zip file and upload them for your ride.

When such .zip files are downloaded by someone, they are uncompressed automatically by the software and the user will be looking at a folder of files. He or she should delete the ones not wanted.

Upload any set of files you want in the bundle. I think I will start uploading a pdf file containing a nice map of the ride, a .gpx file containing the gps coordinates and a .doc or .xls file so that the next person can easily modify my ride if they need to.  (I do not worry about someone stealing any of my rides: almost all of them were stolen myself from others, usually from Walt Russel.)  Or upload a .gpx and a .pdf file. that will work to.

Go for it guys!
I will still ask Georgia to make a review of the cue library an agenda item. If you guys convert enough files to multiple formats, the agenda  item will consist of "Board: Here's what's happening ".

I am not planning on converting any of the existing files to multiple formats. I may add some packaged files to rides I revise or enter in the future.

The cue library has always been wide open as far as format is concerned. It still is. It just happens to be a little wider open then we knew.  I know you can archive .doc, .xls, .pdf and .zip files and any combination of these. (I suspect you could throw in a nice .jpg image of the ride as well.)

People can continue to add single files or can now add multiple files packaged as a .zip file. They will do what they want--as they have. This seems just fine to me.  All the formats in use are easy for club members to read.

Why not have the board move on adding a verified field with date and time and comments to the cue description? and then on versions of rides so the classics don't disappear?
