Note that Mignano's in Glen Rock is, sadly, out ofbusiness. But the convenience store at the adjacent gas station has expanded with passable sandwiches, plenty of snacks/drinks and, I am pleased to report, very nice, clean bathrooms.

I can second Dan's suggestion about spreading the dropouts. The late Tom Bruni did this for me on my 1970's Mercian frame, which is now still on the road with a Shimano 9-speed freehub.

Be Careful When Packing Up
Category: Social

Mark- Yep, that's a bummer. About ten years ago, I dedicated a gym bag to hold all my personal riding gear (shoes, helmet, mirror, arm warmers, sunscreen, gloves, energy bars, etc.) to solve the problem of showing up for a ride without something. I throw the bag in the car, suit up at the ride start, then put everything back in the bag after the ride. Of course, if you forget to bring the bag with you... Tom V.

Bike Virginia Tour novelty relevant to BBC?
Category: Social

They did the same thing on the Erie Canal Tour this year. It was great. No waste, simpler for the staff at the rest stops (they didn't have to keep mixing up batches) and everyone got exactly what they wanted.

Want to Buy - Spare Tire Bike Rack
Category: Social

Looking to buy a spare tire style bike rack for my wife's RAV-4.  Does anyone have one surplus to their needs that they would like to sell?  Please contact me off list.  Thanls.  Tom Valenti

The new bridge on Yeoho Road north of Benson Mill Road is now complete and open to traffic.

The George's Creek Road bridge in northern Baltimore County is now compete and open to traffic.

Just took a ride down there to see what the situation is. It looks like the deck is mostly poured (the concrete is still covered with wet burlap). There is a nest of exposed reinforcing bars at least on one end of the bridge, and there is an open area with crushed stone in front of that.

The bridge should not yet be used on a club ride.  I personally would not try to traverse it in bike shoes while carrying a bike - too unsafe.

On another note, today the signs for the closure of the Yeoho Road bridge were uncovered, so that detour is now active.

It has been brought to my attention that if you click on this ride in the Ride Calendar View, a map comes up that shows an incorrect location for the ride start.  My sincere apologies for any confusion this may casue.  I will confess that I do not know how to put the information in to get the mapping function to work.

The ride start location entered in the ride description is correct and the directions to the ride start are available on the web site as follows:

FIF 5th District Elem. School

I-695 to Exit 24 I-83 North to Exit 27. Left on Mt. Carmel Rd. (RT137). Go approx. 6.0 mi. then cross Falls Rd. at blinking light. Go 0.5 mi. School on Left.

The hourly forecast on weather.com is favorable, so the ride will go as posted, leaving WES at 9:30 AM.
