Format for Longitude and Latitdue

For the boat launch area off of RT 286 (1198? Bethel Rd), Chesapeake City, MD 21915), I get coordinates (approximate):
39°31'33.5"N, 75°48'21.6"W
You can copy/paste those coordinates into Google Maps or  www.gmap-pedometer.com and it should show you the map point. At the least, the map should be centered on that coordinate when you zoom in.

I rechecked my GPS way point And I read
  N39deg 31min,30sec
  W075deg,48min 17 sec
These should put you a the parking lot.

I suggest that postings to the Forum use the simplest format for longitude and latitude - signed decimal pairs to 4 places.
39.5259, -75.8060  for the above boat ramp
Entries of such pairs into Google and other online maps will give best results.
   ==>Ride Start for 39.5259, -75.8060
The use of degree, minute, second characters are difficult for most keyboards.

Re: Format for Longitude and Latitdue

How do I get a signed decimal Long/Lat values?

One easy way is to use the Google Maps beta Long/Lat tooltip.  See below for how Oregon Ridge Looks when tooltip is enabled.

If you have Google Earth then the Long/Lat and Elevation under the cursor is reported.

Re: Format for Longitude and Latitdue

I can get the lat/long pairs via VZNavigator, too.  I use it to find ride starts all of the time. Once I scroll to the location that I want lat/long data for, I select that point, and have it send "Place Information" to my email address. In this case, what gets emailed to me (or, if I need to, email to someone else, like in case of emergency) is the the decimal point convention.

2006-2009 = 48,095 miles
2010 mileage = 10,372 miles
