Amenities
There's
more to this than just a bike ride.
Sag Service and
Mechanical Support -- Radio equipped sag wagons will patrol all routes, and mechanics are on
duty at the ride start and selected rest stops to perform minor repairs.
Food --
There are four
food stops on the full century, three on the three-quarter and metric centuries,
two on the half-century, and one on the quarter-century. All food
stops will have locally-grown fresh fruit from Scenic View
Orchards and they will have restroom facilities. There
will be food and that ever-popular ice cream for returning riders at the
start/finish area.
Music --
At the end of
the ride, relax and enjoy old-time fiddle tunes performed by a live acoustic
ensemble.
Massage --
Massage
therapists again will be available to perform massages for a fee at the
conclusion of the ride.
Nearby points of
interest -- No
need to rush to get home. After the ride is over, there are still
plenty of things to do in the Thurmont area. Nearby places of
interest include Catoctin Furnace, the Catoctin Zoo, Cunningham Falls State
Park, Catoctin Mountain National Park, the Seton Shrine (in Emmitsburg) and, of
course, the South Mountain, Antietam and Gettysburg battlefields. For
more information on these and other attractions, visit the Links
page. Bring the family and make it a weekend
adventure.
