Fun ride to ArtScape 2008 in downtown Baltimore
This will be a 10-12 mph ride with numerous options to customize your ride from anywhere from 18 to 52 miles.
Two routes to the ArtScape in Dowtown Baltimore will leave together from the Light rail station in Lutherville. they will both follow the same route for the first 8 miles, and then one will pick up the Jones Falls Bike Trail in Woodberry and the other will pick up the Gwynns Falls Bike Trail in Dickeyville. There will be separate leaders for each route into town.
ArtScape (www.artscape.org) is free and includes hundreds of artists and craft vendors as well as multiple free music performances throughout the day. Bring money for food and a sturdy lock and chain to secure your bike.
Because there is so much to do at ArtScape and it is so spread out, the return options are all self directed. If you stay late, are tired or are not comfortable riding without a group of other riders or a ride leader, take the light rail back to Lutherville (0 miles). There are several light rail stops within the area of ArtScape. It costs $1.60 (cash only) and bikes are free.
The direct bike ride back will be via Hampden and Homewood back to Lutherville (12 miles). You can also ride either of the trail routes back out in reverse. Cue sheets will be provided for all routes, but there will most likely be no ride leader for any of the returns.
