March 15th ride where we do a nice ride to the French Twist Cafe and discuss the soothsayers forecast. (During Caesar's parade on the feast of Lupercal, the Etruscan haruspex (soothsayer) Spurinna warns Caesar to "Beware the (r)Ides of March", a warning he disregards.)
In the weeks before the Ides, Julius Caesar, appointed dictator for life by the Roman Senate, has pardoned his remaining enemies and rewarded his friends. Now Caesar is preparing to leave Rome with his legions to wage a war of conquest against the Parthian Empire. Bonus question for riders: Describe the Parthian Empire in its modern form.
