First Day of Spring Ice Cream Ride

First Day of Spring Ice Cream Ride

Spring arrived and the weather seems like summer after a season of almost no winter.
Arriving at Meadowood Park I found Jon, Marybeth, and Mike anxious to roll - but we still had lots of time to roll around.  Len and his friend declined to ride with us, saying we were too fast and they would rather do a 12 mph tour through the hills of Prettyboy instead of a 16+ flat ride around Loch Raven.
Jeb comes and then Roger drives in with plenty of time and gets his new/rebuilt Fuji ready to go.  I get a call from Susanne saying Richard has a flat on the commute in and they will be late.  We wait 7 more minutes, leave cuesheets, and then start slow.  We never catch the "slow" Len and friend on the ride up to Cuba and then Stringtown.
But great fun, we pick up Renee with a snazzy yellow helmet for Stringtown, ColdBottom, and York.  But Renee turns off, and 5 miles later so does Mike.  We finally achieve the ridge top on Old York and its a fast 15 miles across Jacksonville on Sweet Air and then Patterson and a tailwind on Long Green Pike (23+).  Jeb skips the ice cream stop and pushes on.
The late start now turns to our advantage as we pull into Prigel's Creamery at 11:57.  Prigel's has changed their opening time to noon!!!
We finish our ice cream and Susanne and Richard roll in for their's.
We finish the day's ride with an easy 13 miles back through Loch Raven.  Yea Spring!!!
