5 May Park to Park ciclovia in North Baltimore

The Roland Park Civic League, Keswick Multi Care Center and the Baltimore City BMore Streets for People Program will host a fifth “Park to Park” ciclovía on Saturday, May 5, 2012, from noon to 4:00PM.

Vehicular traffic will be diverted from southbound Roland Avenue and West University Parkway as well as Tudor Arms Avenue, Beech Avenue and Wyman Park Drive, allowing participants to bicycle, skate or walk a three-mile course from Northern Parkway into Druid Hill Park.

Also collaborating in this first multi-neighborhood ciclovia are the Friends of Druid Hill Park and Remington, Hampden, Wyman Park and Rolden neighborhood associations.

Along the course, at the intersection of Roland Avenue and West University Parkway, participants are invited to join festivities at the Roland Water Tower.  Live music, children’s games, including a bike decorating workshop, a raffle and food will be offered by the Friends of the Roland Water Tower from noon to 3PM.  Proceeds will go to help refurbish the century-old City landmark.

Local bike shops will be on hand to tune bikes along the course and instruct children on bicycling safety.

Volunteers are needed to distribute leaflets and help ensure course safety. Volunteers can sign up here.

A thousand or more residents have participated in each of the four prior Roland Park ciclovías. Through its BMore Streets for People Program, Baltimore is one of scores of cities worldwide developing ciclovía programs
