The Accountant's Burnout ride minus accountants

The Accountant's Burnout ride minus accountants

Mark Tabb made a good call today by postponing the Accountant's Burnout ride for tomorrow.  I started early at 845a but that didn't help.  The rain was pretty steady for most of the first hour.  Fortunately the rain stopped as I reached South Mountain.  Once over, it "spit" rained on and off for the next 2 1/2 hours or so.  Upon returning to Taneytown the rain picked up but never as steady as at the start.  A note to tomorrow's riders.  The first rest stop at 24.5m is out of business (it was also 2 years ago the last time I did this ride) and the Pizza place (used to be Rocky's) in Cascade (Ft. Richie) is also out of business (and was last year on a different ride).  I saw no stops in Cascade except maybe a new community center but I don't know what the rules are for using it.  No gas stations, nothing.  My first stop for a convenience store was at mile 56.  Since it was in the 50s, 2 water bottles lasted until then no problem.  Despite the bad weather and relatively cool temps finished this solo ride at 15.7 nearly a full mph faster than 2 years ago - 14.9.  Hope there's a good turnout tomorrow for the real ride! -Ross
