Looking for friends and riding partners

Looking for friends and riding partners

Hey all,

I've been riding for a couple of years, but never on any group rides and none of my friends are in to cycling (lame I know!).  I plan on joining some group rides with BBC this summer and hopefully work my way up to the faster paces, and maybe that would give me what I'm looking for because I'd be around like-minded cyclists.  However, I would love to meet a few people who get together for more informal group/partner rides every once in a while or even just a nice after work or Saturday morning ride. My job keeps me pretty busy, so I don't always have the opportunity to join the established rides.

Are there any experienced riders who would be willing to teach me a bit or inexperienced people who would like to learn with me?

Thanks for reading current/smile

Re: Looking for friends and riding partners

Michael,

Consider joining a ride posted at the 10-12 level watching for notes about the terrain. We have been known to give you all the free advice you can stand and we usually sweep rides at that level. If you are not confident about finishing our usual length  ride of 30 miles or so, keep an eye out for the casual rides which get posted occasionally. Our 30 mile 10-12 level rides usually feature a refreshment stop at the mid-point peppered with social banter. Looking forward to seeing you on the road!

Re: Looking for friends and riding partners

I just added a pretty easy 10/12 ride for this Sunday.  The hills are rolling, with country roads.  This would be a good one for your first time because you need to know how we ride at BBC, what car back means, and what do you do with a cue sheet.  First on my list would be your bike.  Is it in good workable condition?  Can you change a tube by yourself in the middle of nowhere.?  Do you have a cue sheet holde?  And the most important question : Can you enjoy a bike ride in the country?.

Sunday 9:45 show, 10:00 go.  Rick Todd

Michael,

Where is your home base?  Do you have an idea of what you average speed is?  I'm in Bowie, Md and do some riding in Anne Arundel county and other southern counties.

Re: Looking for friends and riding partners

Larry, Rick and John,

Thanks for the feedback--I really appreciate you taking the time to respond.  I wont be able to join the group rides this weekend (I'm out of town for Memorial day), but I will definitely try to join one of the 10/12 level rides soon to start.

Rick, my bike is in great shape, and I can definitely change a flat with no problem. Do you lead rides similar to the one you have on Sunday often?  Sounds like a great ride to me, and I'd love to participate.  Where are your rides held?

John, Im in Baltimore City, but I'll be sure to hit you up.

Larry, See you on the road!

Thanks again!
