My first questions...how was the Flatlands ride on the 24th and how were the roads?

Second question....are any of the folks who missed Flatlands due to Bike Virginia
interested in a re-scheduled Flatlands some time in July?  Let me know...I'm thinking of scheduling it as a regular club ride.

Thanks,

Bill Gary

I'm thinking of leading the 7 Towns 7 Valleys ride from OR soon, and I wanted to make sure that there are enough well spaced places to get water, food, etc. along the whole route. I THINK there's a store at the corner of Middletown and Beckleysville...can someone confirm that?

Thanks,

Bill Gary

All,
I might have posted  this before, but it not...
Here's a website that lists lots of local bike activities, including  upcoming centuries.  I'm thinking of doing the WV ride this Saturday the 20th.

Dr. Cahill, leader of the 7 towns etc. ride yesterday...I'm fine, I got a flat near Jefferson (actually, it was near the valve stem) and then I stopped to talk  with Paul and Suzanne who were going UP Spooks Hill as I was going DOWN it.  Thanks for leading, this is always a good pre BV hill workout.

It's about time for the annual May 'BWI to Chesapeake Beach Ramble' century to happen. It seems like there was an updated version in the library, but I can't find it. If anyone has ridden it since we did it last May, please let me know if there are alterations to the cue library version.  I'm thinking of posting it for May 27th or 28th.

The handlebar cafe is 2 blocks from my office, so I stopped in this morning on my way to work.  They've done an amazing job with the place...you all should make  a point to stop in, get a cup of coffee and leave a message for Marla..'FINALLY, YOU'RE OPEN!!

Bike virginia has announced the locations for the 2017 tour.  For those of you
who attended in 2013, it will feel familiar!

My hero,
It's a Cateye Astrale or Astrale 8 you're looking for.  I've seen them on ebay quite often because I still use them.  Let me know if you can't find one, I probably have several of them somewhere in my bike work area.

I'm selling my black size 47 (more on that later) 2 month old Louis Garneau Course 2LS cycling shoes. They shrank to size 45.5 or 46, so anyone who wears those sizes would be comfortable in them.  They have 2 boas across the top so they are micro-adjustable across the top of your foot.  You're free to put your
cleats on them and try them out before you buy them.

$100.00 OBO

Just don't....

I noticed my (relatively) new Louis Garneau Course 2LS shoes (with 2 boas)were really tight about 3/4 of the way through the Tour of Frederick metric a weeks ago. When I got home, I put on a different pair of the same basic shoe and whoa...the original pair had shrunk about a half size!  The only thing I could think would have caused this is leaving them in the back of my car over several very HOT days.   So.....as Jgo reminded me earlier today, different shoes and different material will react differently to a hot car over several days...but why take a chance? These were comfortable slightly expensive shoes that now are unwearable.  Don't leave your cell phone, CDs or cycling shoes in a closed car in hot weather.   I'll post the shoes in our sales forum...they're fine for someone who wears normally a 45.5 or 46 sized cycling shoe.
