Not an official trip, just another BBC ride. Route was not checked out this year but has been ridden (or cycled) in prior years.

The Moo for lunch in Mercersburg is closed but there are lots of great options (large town).

I am offering 3 rides. The 3 optional rides are as follows:

From Greencastle-Antrim Township Community Park (25-30 minutes from Hagerstown):

The Moo - 30.5 miles - (https://ridewithgps.com/routes/39525638) - Various lunch spots at mile 18.1 (look for bikes).

Foot Of The Mountain - 45.2 miles - (https://ridewithgps.com/routes/21446498) - Various lunch spots at mile 18.1 (look for bikes).

(Same first half to lunch on both rides-decide to do 13 or 27 miles after lunch)

   From Hagerstown-Washington County Regional Park:

Boone-Keedys-Sharps-C&O Canal - 48.6 miles - (https://ridewithgps.com/routes/28562416)  - A classic ride-wish I was fit enough to do it - I believe it feels hillier than the listed feet of climbing.

I will guess that most people will be doing the shorter ride but I could be wrong.

If the links to the ride do not work, just go to any ride in Ride With GPS and change the suffix numbers (I tried to "copy link" but might not work).

I will have lots of cue sheets as a courtesy.

wheel The Boone-Keedys-Sharps-C&O Canal classic ride can be shortened by several miles, with less climbing. Instead of turning right onto Benevola Newcomer Rd at mile 7.6, just continue south on Alt 40 into Boonsboro. This portion of Alt 40 has paved shoulders and is a signed bike route.

yesterday
marktabb@yahoo.com Jeffrey-I looked at the map. It looks like Alt-40 only cuts out a mile or two. Correct me if I am wrong.

wheel Mark is probably right that the shortcut only cuts off a couple miles. More importantly Boonsboro is an interesting town. Boonsboro has a new museum that tells about the history of the National Road, which the shortcut uses. Boonsboro also has a nice park and restrooms.
